Background: The Hero of Highsteppe as he was once known, Bartholomeu Janlier in his younger years lead a small military force on behalf of The Order of Ma’at into the Lamavoran City of Illuma (The City of Lights) to assassinate the Dandelion Gypsy royals and end the Dandelion Wars. For his duties, Bart was given the title of Guardian, and granted a reprieve from any further service in war, providing his skills as a warrior were put to protecting Highsteppe from any external threats. But Highsteppe is a small forest village, it has never been much in the way of political strategic ground. Bart never saw war again after returning from Lamavora. He spent his time looking after the village, training up children in the arts of combat in case they would ever need to use it, while lamenting the horrid actions of his past.

Present Situation: Nearing the end of his life, Bart has decided it is time to train up an apprentice to replace him as chief village guardian. He has picked and been training a young villager, one that shows promise of un-told potential.
